N ew restaurant for downtown Lakeland: A Brazilian investor plans to renovate a historic building in downtown Lakeland into Posto 9, a new restaurant. Marco Franca, CEO and founder of Aquila Brasil and executive director of Posto 9, said his group has closed on 215 E. Main St. The 14,000-square-foot building will house a Brazilian gastropub with a rooftop lounge.

Publix plans new store in Ruskin
To keep up with the housing boom in Southern Hillsborough County, Publix Super Markets Inc. is planning another store in Ruskin.
The Lakeland-based grocer is under construction on a store at 5018 North Highway 41 in South Shore Village, spokesman Brian West said Wednesday.
The store will be nearly 46,000 square feet and include a pharmacy and liquor store. It is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Straz, city officials expect 34-story tower to break ground soon
A residential tower in the works for years could break ground in the coming months, according to officials with the city of Tampa and David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.
The tower, named Arts and Entertainments Residences and adjacent to the Straz Center, was first proposed in 2013. The city has spent millions reconfiguring Tyler and Cass streets to create a 1-acre parcel where the tower will be built.
